We lost a very dear friend on December 6th, Mr. Ken Price. He and his lovely wife, Suzanne, have been members for a very long time. Our deepest sympathy is extended to all of his family. We celebrated the November marriage of Sandra Loy to Mark Meyers on Dec 23rd at the clubhouse and many members came by to wish them happiness and love in their new life together. We had a wonderful evening with our members and employees at the Christmas dinner of Dec 11. The food was outstanding and we thank everyone for bringing their favorite dish to share. Special thanks to Santa (Stephen Chellis) who made several kids (and adults) very happy with his "HoHoHo" good cheer and candy canes!! The GHIN handicap system should be operating by mid-January and a new all-in-one handicap computer is available in the pro shop for posting. The $25 annual handicap fee for all adult golfers using the system will be billed on Feb 1st. Your Golfnet information is being transferred to USGA and new handicap numbers will be assigned by GHIN. We anticipate an easy transition once the site is up and running. Thank you again for your support and wishing you and your family a very happy and prosperous New Year! Suzanne and Jo-Ann

reminders & notices
I want to start off by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holiday season. Hopefully we’ll get a few nice days in the the winter for golf and everyone can try out their new equipment. I’d like to congratulate Team Summerville (Team Miler) for winning the Summerville Cup against Pine Forest. We were down big after day one but made a nice comeback on day two to retain the cup for the third year ina row. Congratulations also to the 2012 Players of the Year: Overall Mr. Gary Hartmann and the Senior Division - Mr. Rockie Bailey. Both golfers were recognized for their achievement at the annual Christmas dinner held at the Pavilion on December 11. We had a great turnout on December 8 for the Hartmann Christmas Open as well as raising money for Meals on Wheels. The next big tournament will be the Superbowl Powerball on February 3. This is a four player captain’s choice with a twist, that is followed by an oyster roast. This event fills up fast so find a team or sign up as an individual and let us know in the pro shop -- sign up for the Powerball is available now in the pro shop. I’ve had some requests for more sizes in the Under Armour logo fleece jackets and have those on order; they should arrive the first part of January. I want to thank all members for your support of our club and pro shop throughout the year - your support has allowed us to improve operations and bring in a better variety of merchandise. I’m looking forward to continue growing and improving our club and hope to see everyone throughout the holiday season.
Happy New Year!
